Happily, the walk there is both kid friendly and includes some beautiful views of the coast along the way. Be sure to check the tide times before you go.

Collecting fossils at Saltwick Bay can be very dangerous. The cliffs are constantly losing pieces from small flakes of shale to massive boulders of sandstone. Dactylioceras ammonites are common in nodules at Saltwick Bay. At the small bay, the Dogger Formation reaches beach level. The famous Whitby Plant Bed here yields fossil plants.
