There is an option for "classic" iron sights in black mesa options. In staying faithful to HL1, there aren't any iron sights. The magnum has them because in HL1, there was a scope, and the creators decided to allow Gordon to aim down the sights instead. They decided to have the revolver, as the fact that it has no secondary trigger function, use iron sights for better aiming, as in Half Life, the original gold source version, not the source version, is a sniper in the form of a hand cannon, now you can snipe them with better accuracy.
